Wayonara is a tradename owned by Nextop, a limited company founded in Italy during mid 2013 by Carlo Oppo Demarchi (Expedia, Yahoo, Gruppo Espresso) and Salvatore Baldinu (Freshfields, H&M), two business travellers who have often experienced the excitement and the pain of planning and booking multimodal complex trips. It started as a research project bootstrapped by founders and co-financed by the Scientific Park of Sardegna Ricerche, a Sardinian public entity for R&D who launched the first online newspaper in Europe under the direction of the Noble Prize Carlo Rubia.
